David Moon is a Chartered Professional Accountant licensed in British Columbia and the principal of DSJM Accounting.
He trained at a Big 4 firm, then moved into strategic finance and sell-side M&A advisory. That transaction work is why the firm leads with exit planning: he has seen what a buyer's diligence does to a set of books, and which problems are expensive to fix late.
He also built the finance function for a real estate group operating six entities in Canada and the United States, covering monthly reporting, controllership and forecasting. That work was done inside businesses rather than across the table from them. He has hired outside accountants, reviewed their files and paid their invoices, which shapes his view of what a client should get for the fee.
DSJM is built for the planning side. Most of what saves an owner-manager money is decided before the year-end closes, rather than when the return is prepared.
