Vancouver accounting services

Corporate tax in Vancouver.

Your corporate return should connect with the way you run the business and pay yourself. David Moon, CPA, prepares T2 returns for incorporated owner-managed businesses and considers the owner’s personal tax position alongside the company.

What we do

A year-end that connects the company and the owner.

DSJM prepares the T2 and its schedules, reviews the records supporting the return, and discusses the small business deduction and investment income where relevant. CRA correspondence through the year is included in the published starting scope; an existing review or audit can change the quote.

Salary, dividends, shareholder balances and personal instalments belong in the same conversation. Tell David about other corporations, major purchases, changes in ownership and any planned sale before the work is scoped.

Getting ready

Start with the records, then the return.

Be ready to describe your year-end date, previous accountant, bookkeeping software, last completed reconciliations and any outstanding filings. David will identify the documents and access needed through the agreed secure process.

  • Prior corporate returns, assessments and financial statements.
  • Current bookkeeping and bank, credit card and loan reconciliations.
  • Details of assets, financing and amounts paid to or from shareholders.
  • CRA correspondence and approaching payment or filing dates.

You do not need to send these through the website form. If the records are behind, catch-up bookkeeping is scoped before year-end preparation.

Fees and fit

The T2 and financial statements are separate services.

Corporate tax returns start at CAD $1,500. Compilation financial statements, owner returns and cleanup are separate services. The pricing page shows the starting fees and example totals; your scope and fee are agreed in writing.

Common questions

Before you book.

Does every BC corporation pay 11% tax?

No. The combined 9% federal and 2% BC small-business rates apply to qualifying income within the available business limit. Eligibility, associated corporations and reductions to that limit matter. See the CRA corporation tax rates and discuss your facts with David.

Can you work with my existing bookkeeper?

Yes. Explain who maintains the records and which work you want DSJM to handle. The engagement sets out responsibilities for bookkeeping, tax and any financial statements.

Can you help if a deadline is close?

Tell David the exact deadline and the state of the records when booking. Availability and the work needed must be assessed before a completion date can be agreed.

Should I take salary or dividends?

The answer depends on the company and your personal position. Read salary or dividends for the main questions, then have the alternatives calculated for your circumstances.
