Vancouver accounting services
Everything an incorporated business needs from its accountant.
DSJM Accounting Inc. is a full-service Vancouver CPA firm. Below is what we do for incorporated businesses and professionals across Greater Vancouver. David Moon, CPA, does all of it personally.
T2
Corporate tax (T2)
We prepare and file the T2, handle CRA correspondence, and plan around the small business deduction limit and the passive investment income rules that can reduce it. For owner-managers the T2, GST and personal position get looked at together rather than as separate filings in different months.
T1
Personal tax (T1)
Owner and family returns prepared in coordination with the corporation, so salary, dividends, RRSP room and credits are planned as one picture. Instalments mapped to how the business actually pays you, rather than a default carried over from last year.
BK
Bookkeeping and cloud accounting
Monthly or quarterly bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online or Xero, reconciled and kept current so you always know where the business stands. The person preparing your return already understands the numbers, because we maintain them.
PAY
Payroll
Payroll setup, regular runs, CRA source deductions remitted on schedule, and T4 and T5 slips filed by the last day of February. One person on payroll or a small team.
GST
GST and PST compliance
Registration, the right filing frequency, input tax credits captured properly, and the quick method where it works out better. We track the deadlines and calculate what is owed to CRA and to the Province.
NTR
Compilation engagements (Notice to Reader)
Compiled financial statements prepared under CSRS 4200, the standard that replaced the old Notice to Reader. Most banks, landlords and shareholders asking for a statement are asking for this one.
REV
Review engagements
Where a lender, a shareholder agreement or a buyer needs more than a compilation, a review engagement provides limited assurance through enquiry and analytical procedures. We will tell you honestly which level your situation calls for, since a review costs more than a compilation and is not always required.
CFO
Fractional CFO
Monthly or quarterly finance leadership: the close and reporting pack, cash flow forecasting, margin and unit economics, budgets, and lender or board reporting. For businesses past the bookkeeper stage and not ready for a full-time hire.
EXIT
Exit and succession planning
The Exit Readiness Review and the structuring, clean-up and tax planning that follows it, for owners heading toward a sale or a handover. This is where the firm leads.
PC
Professional corporations
For incorporated physicians, dentists, optometrists, lawyers and veterinarians: setting up and running the professional corporation, remuneration strategy, and income splitting where the rules permit. We keep current with the constraints specific to regulated professions in BC.
Where we lead
Exit and succession planning.
Every firm on this list files returns. What is harder to find is an accountant who has sat on the sell side of a transaction and can tell you, before a buyer is at the table, what your business is actually worth and what is holding that number down.
That is where DSJM leads, and it is the work that changes the outcome most.
Free checklist
The BC year-end tax checklist.
The planning moves to make before your year-end, the documents your accountant actually needs, and the deadlines that catch people.
Subscribe to CanadianCPA, the tax and finance letter by David Moon, CPA, and the checklist arrives with your welcome email.
